Foam board and Stencils????
YES!
I recently took a class from Wendy Vecchi and fell IN LOVE with her embossing paste. Well, of course, I did! It was the old Dreamweavers embossing paste I loved in the past!
Oh the gold and silver.....not to mention the other colors!
This is where my project would start out. I cut my Foam Board to 9" x 12" inches....why?? because that is the size of my stencil.
Well now when you see this next picture I could have stopped right there and been TOTALLY happy! The matt of the black Foam Board with the shiny of the embossing paste--WOW! The Foam Board is so easy to work on.
But I decided to move on and make something a little more creative. How about a book? YES! that's it, a book. I love to book bind and make my own signatures.
I cut another piece of Foam Board to 9" x 12" and another to 1.5" x 12". Here is my book base. Now what to bind it with.
For some reason we have an abundance of athletic tape in my house. What color you may ask--at last count about 14 different colors. KIDS! Which one did I pick? Black of course!
A little stenciling on the tape with my Stitch a Greek Border stencil from StencilGirl and I was set! Here is a close-up of the spine of my book. I stenciled a line of my border right down the middle of the two pieces of tape.
Now when I'm ready for my next book binding project I have the perfect shell! Think of the possibilities With the Holiday's coming these would make the perfect present--big, small, cheap and beautiful!

Hi Gill,
DeleteIt is the tape that athletes use to wrap anything from injuries to their equipment. If you go to Sports Authority or Dick's just ask and they can lead you in the right direction. It comes in every color imaginable :) Maria

ReplyDeleteI actually squealed when I saw this gorgeous creation! Absolutely S T U N N I N G ! ! ! Butterflies hold special meaning to me because they remind me of my neighbor's 7 year old son who passed away from cancer 10 years ago. He loved butterflies so whenever I see one I know he is stopping by to say hello! I MUST HAVE this stencil and the foam board! I may have to borrow your idea and make a book like this for my neighbor. I will write a few stories of memories that I have of Joseph and also leave some pages blank so she can write in it. May 14, 2014 will be 11 years so I will give it to her then or maybe even for Christmas this year. Thank you for the inspiration and also for sending me a hello from my dear friend Joseph! TFS!
