StencilGirl Stencil Test Drive....Retro Flowers and Circles by Jessica Sporn

Welcome to another Stencil Test Drive with the Retro Flowers and Circles Stencil from StencilGirl Designed by Jessica Sporn. I will be test driving this stencil with two other artists in addition to Jessica herself.

I had absolutely no idea what I was going to make when I sat down to do this project but it became apparent 5 minutes into playing with it I didn't know which project I was going to show you. My ideas started flying all over the place. I'm sure you will be seeing this stencil sneaking into many projects in the coming weeks from my play.

First, I decided to spray away with some Dylusions spray to get started. When I was done I turned the stencil over and stamped the remaining ink onto another piece of paper.

Now what to do...I had ideas for both of them. I decided to put the traditional spray through the stencil page aside. You will see this in another project in the future. I would work with the stamped stencil. I loved the layers I got by turning the stencil everytime I stamped. All I kept thinking about when I looked at the images I got was PSYCHEDELIC. I have been having some crazy dreams lately and decided to Google Psychedelic dream. I ran across a poem that really "spoke" to me and decided for this to be the basis of my journal page.

Next, I took some black cardstock that was sitting on my desk and used Modeling Paste with the stencil.

I let this dry overnight and in the morning used a circle punch to cut circles. One was used in my project and the other four were used to start a spread for my Art Journal Everyday for next week. I do this quite often when doing a more in depth art journal page. I try to take some of the things I've done over into my Art Journal Everyday journal and use them as an element for a kick-start for the week.

I have so many other ideas for this stencil and had so much fun playing with it!
Now please go see what the others did with it:

  1. Gorgeous journal page! I love that modeling paste on black card stock. :)

  2. Wow - you and I were on the same brain wave doing this project -- maybe in a psychedelic dream together! Love where this took you. That sleeping girl is so sweet and the stencil elements on her comforter bring the whole page together. Love love!

  3. I love this stencil! So many goodies to choose from!

  4. saweeet!! Love how you used this stencil. Those b/w circles really pop off the vibrant green/yellow pages!

  5. Wonderful stenciled blanket, pages, cutouts...I really adore how you carrried it through the whole page. xox

  6. Wow this is totally groovy Maria! I love how you used the stencil in three different ways on one page! The modeling paste against that black background really pops! And I love the colors you used, and the painting of the girl in bed is awesome!

  7. How cool is this!?!?! Love how you sectioned off a part of your gorgeous B&W work to feature on this page. And your sleeping beauty is awesome in her bed.

  8. The more I look at this the more I see the stencil! You used it all over the page- and in each place it has a very different look! The big circle so sets the right tone for the psychedelic dream! Good thing I have spell check for that big word...
